Avram Joseph brings deep knowledge, extensive experience, and excellent communication skills to Drake Law in his role as Senior Counsel, Family Law.
His practice focuses on all aspects of separation and divorce, including parenting issues, support claims, and property division. He also has expertise in the negotiation and drafting of cohabitation agreements and other domestic contracts. Avram is recognized for a practical, empathetic, and meticulous approach to resolving disputes.
Prior to joining the legal profession, Avram was a secondary school teacher in Montreal and York Region. His prior career in education supports his ability to communicate effectively and manage sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion. He has the skills, patience, and ability to explain difficult issues clearly.
Avram deals with family law matters in a direct, compassionate, and professional manner. He combines strong advocacy with a thoughtful negotiation style, and when litigation is necessary, he is prepared to guide clients through challenging and high-conflict matters with steadiness and care.
Before returning to private practice, he worked as a Professional Regulation lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario, where he developed deep knowledge of the ethical and professional standards needed to practice law with integrity and the need for excellent customer service. Avram brought sound judgment and a solutions-oriented approach to complex matters involving professional misconduct complaints.
Avram attended law school at our very own Western University and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2005. He received his Bachelor of Education and teacher training from McGill University. He is bilingual in English and French and is committed to accessibility, client service, superior advocacy, and the effective resolution of disputes.
Away from the law, Avram enjoys exploring new trails with “Daphne,” his gentle giant rescue dog, taking in as much live music as possible, raising funds for his niece’s rare genetic disease, and the occasional “fishing trip” with his brother.
