How to Apply


Required Information & Documents

To be considered for The Drake Law Future Lawyers Scholarship, applicants must compile and submit the following core materials to be considered:

  • Short Cover Letter: A brief one-page letter addressed to the Scholarship Committee summarizing your candidacy. In a nutshell, this letter should highlight your academic standing, your specific career aspirations in law, and the key reasons why you should be selected. Please ensure this letter includes your full name, mailing address, email, phone number, and the name and address of your current or most recent school.

  • Personal Essay: A concise essay, no more than 500 words, detailing your commitment to a career in law. You may choose to address how your personal experiences, academic path, and future goals align with any specific area of law, including family law. Your essay should align with the values and mission of Drake Law.

  • Academic Transcripts: Copies of all post-secondary academic transcripts (unofficial copies must be included in your initial PDF submission).

  • Letters of Reference (Optional but Recommended): Up to two (2) letters from a professor, employer, or supervisor that speak to your academic excellence, work experience, volunteer engagement, or leadership roles (e.g., student council, pre-law society).

  • Proof of Law School Application/Acceptance: A copy of your Letter of Acceptance to a J.D. program (LOA is acceptable), or documentation confirming that you have applied and are awaiting a decision.

For privacy purposes, after initial review, select candidates will be contacted to arrange for their schools to send official transcripts for verification. Only final shortlisted candidates will be contacted to send proof of Canadian citizenship/Permanent Residency and Ontario residency.

Submission Instructions

Please submit your complete application package via email. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to send in the proof of their Canadian citizenship/Permanent Residency and Ontario residency and to arrange for their schools to send official transcripts by Postal Mail below.

Submit by Email for Initial Review:

  1. Combine all documents into a single PDF file.

  2. Use the subject line: "Scholarship Application - [Your Full Name]".

  3. Send the PDF to: info@drakelaw.ca

Follow Up Documents to Submit by Postal Mail Only if You Are Shortlisted:

  1. Official transcripts must be sent directly by the issuing institution(s).

  2. Proof of Canadian citizenship/Permanent Residency and Ontario residency must be submitted directly by the candidate.

  3. All mailed documents should be clearly addressed to:
